A idéia é ótima: uma boutique com produtos exclusivos especialmente para homens. Esta é a proposta das lojas Odin New York, inaugurada em 2004 em Manhattan pelos proprietários Paul Birardi e Eddy Chai. Além de uma extensa linha de roupas, sapatos, acessórios masculinos de muito bom gosto e qualidade, eles possuem uma coleção de perfumes que não deixa por menos.

Até hoje foram lançados 6 EDPs: 01 Nomad, 02 Owari, 03 Century, 04 Petrana, 06 Amanu e 07 Tanoke (o número 05 é patente da Chanel). O detalhe um pouco irônico é que são todos unissex! As fragrâncias foram elaboradas em conjunto por Kevin Verspoor, Pierre-Constantin Gueros, Jean-Claude Delville e Corinne Cachen.

Mas o destaque é todo para 06 Amanu, o grande vencedor do FiFi Indie Awards de 2012. De todos perfumes da coleção, Amanu seria a mais, vamos dizer, "masculinizado". É um balanço perfeito entre o frescor do Mediterrâneo com a luxo e calor da Turquia. É um perfume âmbar amadeirado, mas que abre com um frescor de folhas verdes. Perfeito para qualquer estação do ano, devido a este contraste que une estes dois mundo aparentemente sem nada em comum. Diferentes formas de expressões artísticas tem o poder de unir mundos tão distintos, perfume é uma delas.

The idea is a great one: a menswear boutique with exclusive products. This is the idea behind Odin New York stores, which opened in Manhattan in 2004 by the founders Eddy Chai and Paul Birardi. Besides an extensive line of men’s clothing, shoes, accessories, all of good taste and quality, they have a collection of perfumes that are also beautiful and elegant.

Until today, Odin launched six EDPs: 01 Nomad, 02 Owari, Century 03, Petrana 04, 06 and 07 Amanu Tanoke (number 05 is licensed by Chanel). Here is a bit ironic detail: all the fragrances are unisex! They were developed in collaboration by Kevin Verspoor, Pierre-Constantin Gueros, Jean-Claude Delville and Corinne Cachen.

But all the credits go to Amanu 06, the winner of the Indie FiFi Awards 2012. Of all the perfumes collection, Amanu would be more, shall we say, "masculine". It is a perfect balance between freshness of the Mediterranean with the luxury and warmth of Turkey. It is a woody amber scent, but opens with a fresh green leaves. Perfect for any season, because of this contrast that unites these two worlds seemingly nothing in common. Different forms of artistic expression has the power to unite such different worlds, perfume is one of them.

O Espírito da India. The Spirit of India by Neela Vermeire

Neela Vermeire Creations é um dos mais recentes e agradáveis lançamentos dentro da perfumaria de nicho, localizada em Paris. Como uma boa empreendedora, ela disse a que veio quando se uniu a nada mais nada menos que Bertrand Douchafour, um dos melhores "noses" da atualidade, para criar sua primeira coleção de EDPs. Se o objetivo de Neela era prestar uma bela homenagem a sua cidade natal, a Índia, acredito que está no caminho certo. 

A coleção é composta por três EDPs, "Trayee", "Mohur" e "Bombay Bling", que remetem a diferentes períodos deste grande e diverso país. De acordo com seu website: "Cada perfume é um tributo baseado na inspiração olfativa de fontes como, espiritualidade e histórias indianas, no maravilhoso visual do país, na paz dos Himalaias, nas viagens ao topo das estações e portos, nas artes, na arquitetura variada, na gastronomia, música, cinema e nas cores vivas da Índia." 

Das 3 fragrâncias, infelizmente, só tive o privilégio de testar o "Bombay Bling".  Uma verdadeira explosão de aromas, o perfume é bastante frutado, floral e adocicado, nos transportando a uma Índia viva, alegre, pulsante e colorida. É a Índia, divina e glamourosa de Bollywood. Pura festa! O que acho mais incrível nas criações de Bertrand e sua principal característica, é sua capacidade de trabalhar com contrastes e ingredientes opostos transformando-os em perfumes sensacionais. Para se ter uma noção das notas do perfume: manga, lichia, cardamomo, cominho, rosa, jasmim, flores brancas, baunilha, pachouli e mais...

Agora só falta ficar divina, maravilhosa e pronta para arrasar na festa, pois com Bombay Bling, só vai dar você!

Neela Vermeire Creations is one of the newest and pleasant releases in niche perfumery, located in Paris. She made a big splash when she joined none other than Bertrand Douchafour, one of the best "noses" of today, to create her first collection of EDPs.   If the goal of Neela was a beautiful tribute to her hometown in India, I believe that she is on the right path.

The collection consists of three EDPs, "Trayee", "Mohur" and "Bombay Bling ", each evokes different periods of this great and diverse country. According to their website: "Each perfume pays a tribute based on the olfactory inspiration from sources such as, Indian spirituality, history, the amazing landscape, the peaceful Himalayas, the trips to hill stations and sea ports, the arts, the varied architecture, the amazing food, music, cinema and the vivid colors of India."

Of the three fragrances, unfortunately, I only had the privilege of testing the "Bombay Bling." A real explosion of scents, the perfume is very fruity, floral and sweet at the same time, and evokes a lively, pulsating and colorful India. The India of Bollywood, divine and glamorous. Pure party!

What I find most amazing about Bertrand's perfumes is his ability to work with contrasting ingredients, the opposites, and making them sensational. To get an idea of the notes for “Bombay Bling”: mango, lychee, cardamom, cumin, rose, jasmine, white flowers, vanilla, patchouli and more...

Now, get ready and be fabulous for the party, because if you wear “Bombay Bling” you will feel like a million dollars babe!

Taizo in Cannes: Playground for Niche Perfumes + Molinard

Taizo é uma loja de fragrâncias especializada em perfumes de nicho em Cannes, França. É um verdadeiro parque de diversões para quem aprecia esta categoria (pena que não existem muito mais lojas como esta espalhadas pelo mundo). Tive a oportunidade de visitar a pequena loja, e fiquei impressionada com a quantidade de marcas expostas, todas ao seu alcance prontas para serem testadas. Um dos "displays" mais bonitos era o Editions de Parfums de Frederic Malle que provavelmente reúne quase todos grandes nomes da perfumaria moderna em uma mesma coleção, como Jean-Claude Ellena, Sofia Grojsman, Edmound Roudnitska e seu filho Michel, Carlos Benaïm, Dominique Ropiom, Olivia Giacobetti, Maurice Roucel entre outros, todos com seus nomes já nos frascos o que achei sensacional. O nome e o criador do perfume tem o mesmo destaque na embalagem.  São verdadeiras "masterpieces", sem dúvida, mas Noir Epices de Michel Roudnitska me chamou atenção pela complexidade e ambiguidade do perfume que é maravilhoso. Um Oriental amadeirado, quase chipré, ele é quente com muitas especiarias, mas que são suavizadas e balanceadas com, quem diria, notas de laranja e gerânio, daí vem sua ambiguidade e genialidade.


Também comparei vários perfumes com o famoso ingrediente, sucesso garantido em 2011: "Oud" o qual confesso me agrada muito, mas espero sinceramente algo novo para os lançamentos de 2012. Entre eles, By Kilian, Incense Oud e Les Nombres D'Or Oud by Mona Di Orio são pura magia.


A coleção da The Different Company também vem aumentando e encontrei Pure Virgin para quem como eu, adora Musks. Celline Ellena acertou em cheio com esta fragrância suave e elegante.

Agora já em Nice (todas estas cidades ficam muito perto de Grasse, por isso podemos fazer uma bate-volta) visitei uma linda loja da Molinard, outra tradicional perfumaria da região. Pude finalmente experimentar uma instituição da marca, o belíssimo Habanita, uma obra de arte. Entre os perfumes, eles também possuem uma extensa linha de sabonetes, velas, óleos para aromaterapia e produtos para banho. Todos trabalhados com ingredientes de alta qualidade como vem sendo desde 1849.

Na loja, também é possível fazer seu próprio perfume. Eles possuem duas estações que você pode escolher trabalhar: uma com 22 ingredientes e outra com 40. Mistura dali e daqui, voilá!

Quem sabe você crie seu próprio Chanel no.5...

Taizo is a perfume store specializing in niche perfumes in Cannes, France. It is a true playground for anyone who appreciates this category (and I’m sad there are no more stores like this around the world). I had the opportunity to visit the small shop, and was impressed by the number of brands on display, all at your fingertips ready to be tested. One of the most beautiful display was the Editions de Parfums by Frederic Malle that almost likely gathered all the greatest names of modern perfumery in the same collection, such as Jean-Claude Ellena, Sofia Grojsman, Edmound Roudnitska and his son Michel, Carlos Benaïm, Dominique Ropiom, Olivia Giacobetti, Maurice Roucel among others, all with their names already on the bottles which I thought was sensational. The name and creator of the perfume have the same emphasis on the packaging. They are all true "masterpieces", no doubt. However, Noir Epices by Michel Roudnitska caught my attention by its complexity and ambiguity and of course, a wonderful fragrance. Woody Oriental, almost chypré like. It is warmed up by many spices, but then they are softened and balanced with, who would thought, notes of orange and geranium, hence comes its ambiguity and geniality.

I also could compare various perfumes with the famous ingredient, guaranteed success in 2011: "Oud" which I confess I like it a lot, but I sincerely hope something new for the 2012 releases. Among them, Incense Oud By Kilian and Les Nombres D'Or Oud by Mona Di Orio are pure magic.

The collection of The Different Company has also increased and I found Pure Virgin perfect for someone that loves Musks and powdery perfumes like me. Celline Ellena nailed it with this soft and elegant fragrance.

Now in Nice (all these cities are very close to Grasse, so we can make them a day trip) I visited the gorgeous Molinard store, another traditional perfumery of the region. I could finally experience its institution's brand, the beautiful Habanita, a truthful work of art. Among the perfumes, they also have an extensive line of soaps, candles, aromatherapy oils and bath products. All crafted with high quality ingredients as it has been since 1849.

In the store, you can also make your own perfume. They have two stations that you can choose to work from: one with 22 ingredients and another with 40. Blend away and voila! Who knows, perhaps you created your own Chanel no.5 ...
